A local mortgage-company office has helped the widow of an Army infantryman killed in action in Afghanistan get a mortgage-free home.

Fairway Independent Mortgage Corp., 801 Estelle Drive, and all nine of its employees donated more than $20,000 to help Amy Koch, widow of Cpl. Steven Koch.

Fairway’s corporate office contributed another $10,000, said Ken Pederson, branch manager of the Estelle Drive office...
